MSE Graduate Helps Develop Safer Alternative to Opiods for Pregnant Mothers

Since graduating from the MSE program in 2005, Dr. Alane O' Connor has since joined a family practice in Maine, completed her DNP at Vanderbilt, and has done a tremendous amount of work regarding the study of pregnant women and substance abuse. She has recently helped develop a healthier alternative to opiods called Subutex which, in large doses, does not produce as adverse effects on the newborn child.

Melissa Sutherland, Associate Professor of the Connell School of Nursing, was recently awarded a Fulbright award to Chile.
