The TELL (Teaching English Language Learners) Certificate Program is designed to prepare teachers to meet the needs
of English Language Learners in their classrooms. The TELL Certificate Program consists
of two courses and a 10-hour, non-credit training in the Massachusetts English
Language Assessment-Oral (MELA-O) leading to certification as a Qualified MELA-O
administrator. These requirements satisfy the Massachusetts recommendations
for skills and knowledge for teachers of English Language Learners.
BC LSOE graduate students interested in enrolling in The TELL Certificate Program
should hold or be working toward Massachusetts certification in Reading, Early
Childhood, Elementary or Secondary Education.
The Program would be a strong addition for eligible
candidates pursuing the Masters degree in:
- Reading/Literacy Teaching
- Curriculum and Instruction
- Secondary English
- Secondary Foreign Language
