LSOE Graduate Receives Fellowship
Laura King, an
LSOE Presidential Scholar (class of 2003) and former undergraduate
research assistant for Professor Karen Arnold on Rhodes Scholar
research, has been chosen to be a Petrie
Fellow at Teachers College. As an interesting side note: the
Petrie Fellowship at TC was founded to be a "Rhodes Scholarship"
for education to draw talented students to urban teaching.

A new report on the state of research on teacher education, co-edited
by Cawthorne Professor Marilyn Cochran-Smith, delineates the need

NSF Grant
to Interdisciplinary Team
The National Science Foundation has awarded a $1.35 million grant
to a team of scientists, educators, and psychologists from the
Lynch School and Arts & Sciences. The team is working to enhance
science education and vocational preparation among urban youth.
