Master's/CAES Comprehensive Exam Schedule
SUMMER 2008

CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION PROGRAM

Master's/CAES Comprehensive Exam Application and Registration Deadline: Friday, June 13, 2008.

The format is a take-home exam and will be distributed on Wednesday, June 25 2008.

Exams due back no later than 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday July 2, 2008.


APPLIED DEVELOPMENTAL/
EDUCATIONAL PYSCHOLOGY

Master's/CAES Comprehensive Exam Application and Registration Deadline: April 1, 2008.

Comprehensive Exam Thesis Critical Literature Review Proposal and Cover Sheets due by April 1, 2008.

Submit completed paper to readers by May 15, 2008.

Final Revisions (if requested) due back to reader by August 30 2008.

Applications due to Campion 135 no later than one week prior to exam.

Format is an Oral Exam by arrangement w/ Faculty Advisor.

DEPARTMENT OF COUNSELING, DEVELOPMENTAL & EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY

Appointments

Margret Bell has been appointed as the Resource Development & Utilization Coordinator of the Military Sexual Trauma Support Team in the Department of Veterans Affairs & National Center for PTSD (a monitoring, education/training, and policy team designed to improve VA's response to military sexual trauma).

Christian Cho has been appointed to Board of Directors of Community Change, Inc.

Ellen Fanning has been appointed the Coordinator for the BC MACC Tutoring Program and is a Member of Boston Connects Data Collection Team under the supervision of Dr. Mary Walsh. September 2007- present; Graduate Education Association Council Member, 2007-2008

Jong Park has been appointed to the Graduate Education Association Advisory Board

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION AND HIGHER EDUCATION

Appointments

David Engberg, has been appointed Director of International Education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Francesca Purcell was appointed Chair of a taskforce created by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education to study the issue of transfer admissions with an eye to reducing barriers for transfer students. Francesca is the Director for Academic Policy for the Board of Higher Education

Colm RenehamColm Renehan was appointed Vice President for Advancement at Lesley University, overseeing the University’s fundraising efforts. Renehan has over 20 years of development and management experience. He spent the past five years in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Office of Leadership Giving, and joins Lesley during the planning stages of a capital campaign to support the relocation of the Art Institute of Boston to Cambridge and the University’s 2009 Centennial celebration.

Renehan most recently served as Regional Director of the New York Metro area for MIT’s Office of Leadership Giving. In his five years at MIT he has overseen the development of major gifts programs in the Mid West and Southern regions including Florida. Prior to MIT, Renehan developed and managed a major gifts program at Babson College that included domestic and international fundraising including the United States, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, India and the Caribbean.

Joseph Sotelo was appointed to the Pastoral Council, advising Father Charles G. Kieffer, V.F., Dean of Central Phoenix, on issues and matters related to Saint Theresa Parish and the Diocese of Phoenix.

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION RESEARCH, MEASUREMENT & EVALUATION

Appointments

Carolyn Fidelman has accepted a position as Research Analyst in the Language Testing Division of the Center for Applied Linguistics in Washington DC.

Dr. Steve Stemler was recently appointed as the Connecticut State Representative to the New England Educational Research Organization (NEERO) for 2007-2008.

Awards

At the New England Educational Research Organization (NEERO) conference in April, Educational Research, Measurement and Evaluation (ERME) PhD student, Emilie Mitescu, and Randall Lahann (a doctoral candidate in the Department of Teacher Education, Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction) won the "John Schmitt Award" for graduate student research, for a paper they co-authored entitled "Teach for America and the Politics of Progressive Neoliberalism."

Emilie Mitescu also won a Boston College "Donald J. White Teaching Excellence Award," which recognizes graduate teaching fellows and teaching assistants who distinguished themselves in their classroom instruction this academic year.
