If you applied for federal or state loans, you should be hearing shortly. Once accepted, your application for this form of aid is picked up by the Financial Services—a part of University Student Services in Lyons Hall, who prepares your package. It takes about 6 weeks from the time your application is complete to prepare the loan for signing. If you have received your package and have questions, please contact the Student Services/Financial Aid Services directly at (800) 294-0294. Representatives at this number can also answer questions you might have regarding financial aid processes.

--Once approved, when do the loans come in?

--How would an assistantship affect my loan package

--Loan interest rates?

Please visit the University Student Services website at www.bc.edu/studentservices or by phone at the 800 number above. For financial aid purposes, full-time status requires graduate students to take a minimum of 9 credit hours. During the summer, full-time status is still 9 credit hours, but those hours can be taken over both summer sessions. If you receive an assistantship after you have received your loan package, the amount of the loan will likely be reduced by the amount of the scholarship.

Further information regarding scholarships and financial aid is available through the Lynch School Graduate Student Financial Aid Handbook: http://www.bc.edu/schools/lsoe/gradadmission/funding/handbook.html.

Additionally, you should visit the web site of the Murray Graduate Center (www.bc.edu/gsc). There is a wealth of information available at this site about Graduate Life at Boston College and we strongly encourage students to read through the information.
