Judging And Winning Criteria
MASSACHUSETTS SCIENCE POETRY CONTEST
  1. Impartial judges will be selected by the contest coordinator. We will find judges for the poems in the foreign language category among Boston College foreign students and foreign language majors.
  2. Categories for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th Place, and Honorable Mention are:
    1. Most Original Poem: Unique view of a science subjectracoon
    2. Most Humorous Poem: Fun with a science topic
    3. Most Expressive Poem: Sets a mood or conveys emotion about science
    4. Best Long Poem: A science ballad or poem with 5 or more versus
    5. Best Cooperative Poem: A science poem with 2 or more authors
    6. Best Multi-Grade Cooperative Poem: A science poem with 2 or more authors in different grades
    7. Best Foreign Language Poem: A science poem in any language, from students who are bilingual, are in language-immersion classes, or are studying a foreign language.
    8. Please include an English translation if possible.
    9. Best Photo-Illustrated Poem: For students in grades 6, 7 and 8. Use an original, student-created photograph to illustrate a science poem.
    10. Students must indicate the category to which they would like to submit their poems, although we reserve the right to re-categorize if necessary.
