Meet the Staff

cynthia chen

Cynthia Chen is currently a third year doctoral student in the counseling psychology department. She received her master's in counseling education and counseling psychology from the University of Colorado at Denver, with a specialty in Couples and Family. Her BS is from the University of Michigan, majoring in psychology. She is a member of both APA (student affiliate) and the Asian American Psychology Association, and has enjoyed attending and presenting at the APA conventions for the past two years. Her current projects with the ISPRC includes exploring the use of Native American Images in the media and studying the use of reliability as data in scholarly empirical research publications. Her clinical interests involve working with adolescents, children, and their families, all of whom she is lucky enough to work with at her current practicum placement. Some of Cynthia's other research interests include exploring generational status and immigration effects on mental health in Asian Americans.
