Meet the Staff
Ethan Mereish
Ethan Mereish is a Diversity Fellow and a fourth-year doctoral student in Counseling Psychology at Boston College. He earned his M.A. in Counseling and Personnel Services, with an emphasis in College Student Personnel, from the University of Maryland. He earned his B.S. in Psychology from George Mason University. He is a graduate student affiliate of the American Psychological Association, Division 17 (Counseling Psychology), Division 44 (Psychological Study of LGBT Issues), and Division 45 (Psychological Study of Ethnic Minority Issues); he is also an elected officer and Member-at-Large for the American Psychological Association of Graduate Students (APAGS) with a focus on membership recruitment and retention.
Ethan joined ISPRC in the fall of 2008. He conducts research and assists with the annual Diversity Challenge. His research interests focus on examining the effects of oppression on minority individuals' (e.g., gender, sexual, and racial and ethnic minorities) health and identity development as well as factors that promote their resilience. He is also interested in understanding the socialization of prejudice attitudes and behaviors and factors that mitigate prejudice in various domains.
Ethan's clinical experiences range from working with diverse college students, adolescents, and LGBT adults. In his spare time, Ethan enjoys jogging, listening to music, spending time with friends, and exploring Boston.
