Financial Aid Handbook

lynch school of education

GA Positions UPDATED 7/14/08

Congratulations on your acceptance to Boston College and the Lynch School of Education!

Financing the cost of graduate school is one of the most pressing concerns students face.  We hope that this guide will provide you with the information you need to successfully locate funding opportunities.

Please note:  This page will continually be updated over the coming months with new openings for assistantships and other funding opportunities.  Check back often.

Financial aid opportunities can appear in several forms:

    * AWARD-BASED FELLOWSHIPS (including grants, scholarships, and fellowships)
    * GRADUATE ASSISTANSHIPS

Some of these resources can be obtained directly from Boston College; others may be obtained through outside sources such as local civic organizations, religious organizations, educational foundations, banks, and Federal low-interest loan programs.

If you not applying for loans and are applying only for the assistantships, paid internships or the various scholarships listed below, you do not need to file any documents with the Office of Student Services. All of the non-loan forms of aid are handled by the individual schools or offices listed.
It is important to note, though, that if you are applying both for loans and for non-loan forms of aid, the scholarships you receive will have an impact on the amount of loans you are eligible to receive.

You will notice that some of the sources of scholarship funding outside of BC have deadlines after the start of the fall semester.  These appear in this booklet for the benefit of those who are in two-year programs. Boston College funding opportunities, however, are all available for the coming academic year.
