The relationship of social class variables to the human life span.  Career and social mobility among low income individuals, examining personal as well as ecological contexts such as family, workplace, community and school settings that faciliate and/or constrain developmental trajectories.  The ways in which poor and working class individuals develop dual class-based psychological identities in order to transition to elevated career and economic resource levels while maintaining healthy emotional well-being and relationship connections to sources of social support. 

Teaches, supervises and mentors graduate and undergraduate students in several programs including the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program, helping to prepare students from low-income and first generation backgrounds and traditionally underrepresented populations to pursue and attain graduate degrees and to enter careers in research and academia.
