Q. Do I need a computer at Boston College?
Nearly all students bring their own laptop computer to have the flexibility to use technology wherever they want, whenever they want. There are also several computer labs located on-campus for student use.

Q. Does Boston College offer a discounted laptop program?
Yes, Boston College has negotiated great deals on Apple and Dell laptops. These laptops include all the software you'll need while you're at BC, a powerful processor, plenty of storage space, and a warranty with on-campus repair. Q. Is the campus equipped with a wireless network?
The BC wireless network supports the 802.11b standard (also known as 802.11b High Rate or Wi-Fi) only. It specifies an 11 Megabit/second data transmission rate. Your computer's actual wireless speed is dependant on your network card, but A, B, or G standards are supported.

The Campus Technology Resource Center (CTRC) is the main computer lab on campus and is located in the O'Neill Library, Room 250. The following map illustrates the real time usage and availability of computers in the CTRC.

Q. How can I obtain a Boston College email address?
Boston College provides email services for all affiliated students, faculty, and staff (including part-time and visiting faculty and staff). These email services require a BC username and password.
New students: You receive a letter containing your BC username and password as soon as you are formally transferred to 'student' status. If you lost or did not receive the letter containing this information, contact or visit the Campus Technology Resource Center (CTRC) in the O'Neill Library at help.center@bc.edu or 617-552-HELP (4357).
