Each year we host two Open Houses for potential applicants and applicants to come learn more about the UCTC and spend some time with us. We highly recommend trying to make one of these events if you are able because it helps you to assess if the UCTC is a good fit for you. If you aren't able, but would like to visit the program at another time, please contact the UCTC office.
Our Fall Open House is scheduled for Friday, November 13 from 5:30-8 pm. The intention of this evening is ito give more local residents a chance to visit the program before applications are due. We will host you for dinner at the UCTC residence, give you the tour and answer any questions you might have. You'll meet our current volunteers and get a better understanding of life in the program.
Our Winter Open House is scheduled for February 5-7, 2010. The intention of this weekend is to allow applicants who may life further from Boston the opportunity to come visit the program, stay in our house for the weekend and get a brief look at the city of Boston. We will provide housing, most meals and as much transportation as possible. You are responsible for your travel costs and 1 meal/night out in the city. The weekend is planned with you in mind, giving you a chance to interview in person, see the neighborhoood and the schools in which we teach, socialize with current volunteers, have fun and get all of your questions answered. You will walk away with a good sense of what life is like as a UCTC volunteer.
Please email uctc@bc.edu with any questions or to reserve your spot for one of our Open Houses as soon as possible. Our Weekend Open House does generally fill up (we are limited due to sleeping space) and we give preference to those who sign up first and also those coming from out of town.
