Master's Program Options

UCTC candidates should apply to one of the following graduate programs in the Lynch School of Education. Candidates must indicate on the application form that they are applying to the Urban Catholic Teacher Corps. The grad application fee is waived for UCTC applicants. The large majority of our UCTC teachers complete their Master’s degree in the Curriculum and Instruction program with a concentration in Teaching English Language Learners (TELL).  For assistance in determining to which program you should apply, please call the UCTC Director Karen Kennedy at (617) 552-0602 and she’ll gladly help. 

Choices for teachers who do not have a master's degree
M.Ed. Secondary Education 46 credits**
M.Ed. Curriculum and Instruction 30 credits*
M.Ed. Elementary Education 37 credits**
M.Ed. Early Childhood Specialist 30 credits*
M.Ed. Early Childhood 31 credits**
MA Developmental and Educational Psychology 30 credits*
M.Ed. Reading and Literacy Education                                             36 credits**   
Choices for teachers who have a master's degree
C.A.E.S. Curriculum and Instruction 30 credits*
*These programs are not certification programs and will not give you an additional teaching certification
**These programs MAY require UCTC volunteers to extend their studies beyond the two years of service in the Urban Catholic Teacher Corps. Certification programs require a practicum experience that UCTC members must apply to with the Practicum Office so that appropriate supervision can be arranged.
