smiling worker outdoorsWelcome to Supported Employment at Boston College -- a program which incorporates developmentally disabled adults into a competitive work environment.  Supported Employment won the 1998 Arc Massachusetts Distinguished Citizen Award and was cited for being, "a model work program" for people with disabilities.  The employees in the Supported Employment Program receive ongoing assessment, support and training  tailored to their individual needs by professional job coaches and case managers who monitor the progress of each worker to ensure continued success on the job.

Since the program first began in 1987, the Boston College Supported Employment Program has dramatically increased its presence on campus due to the positive response of satisfied employers. The services offered through the Supported Employment program have enabled these employees to be highly successful in their varied positions throughout the Boston College community.

Currently, there are twenty-four (24) employees with developmental disabilities in the Boston College Supported Employment Program.  They work in various depratments such as Dining Services, Catering, the Office of Residential Life, Human Resources, the Graduate School of Social Work, the Center for Corporate Citizenship, the Bookstore, Boston College Libraries, and Buildings & Grounds.
