Education Reform Act
Student teachers need to be aware of current reforms that relate to their schools. Schools in Massachusetts are currently involved in reform that includes curriculum frameworks and MCAS Massachusetts Comprehensive Examinations.

Re-licensure
Teachers at the professional level of licensure are required to collect 150 professional development points every five years to renew their licensure. Student teachers accepting positions in Massachusetts need to review current re-licensure requirements with the school principal.

Teacher Unions
There are two major teacher unions in Massachusetts: the American Federation of Teachers and the Massachusetts Teachers Association. Prospective teachers should contact either union to find out how they can participate.
