Welcome to the inaugural edition of Colloquia, a semiannual e-newsletter for students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the Carolyn A. and Peter S. Lynch School of Education at Boston College. We chose the title Colloquia because it connotes a place where people gather to share ideas and knowledge. My hope is that this e-newsletter will not only inform you about the Lynch School but also serve as a forum for communication within our broader community.
These are exciting days for the Lynch School. We have just moved up in the U.S. News & World Report rankings to number 18 for graduate schools of education. Our faculty are leading experts in their respective fields; though they number only 8 percent of the faculty across the University, they bring in 29 percent of the external funding for research and training. Our undergraduate and graduate students are dedicated young people looking to contribute to their chosen discipline, while our alumni—numbering nearly 21,000—are making a profound impact in Education, Psychology, and related fields.
I invite you to learn more about the Lynch School through this issue of Colloquia, and welcome and encourage your questions and comments through the feedback link below.
With warmest regards,
Joseph M. O’Keefe, S.J.
