Best Wishes for a Resful Summer
Message from Interim Dean Maureen Kenny
Dear Alumni and Friends:
As I write to you in my fourth month as interim dean, I am happy to report that the Lynch School continues to thrive and move forward on many fronts.
When I returned from my sabbatical in Europe and Africa after five months, I was once again reminded of how strongly our students, faculty, and staff believe in the Lynch School and our mission. As someone who has served on both the faculty and the administration, I am proud and appreciative of our commitment to innovation, wisdom, and justice.
Evidence of the great things happening at the Lynch School includes the work of the Roche Center for Catholic Education, the Lynch Leadership Academy, and the St. Columbkille Partnership School, all initiatives that are contributing to the quality of education today in the Boston area and beyond. Additionally, five new faculty members will join the Lynch School of Education this fall, all who come with impressive backgrounds and experience, which you will be hearing more about in future communications. Finally, Provost Bert Garza has formed a search committee comprising Lynch School faculty members along with administrators from across the University to recommend a replacement for Dean Joseph O’Keefe, S.J.
Again, I want to underscore how impressed and grateful I am for the work of our faculty, the support of our alumni, and the achievements in the classroom and in the community on the part of our remarkable students. All of this has made my personal commitment to the Lynch School stronger than ever—and has made my time as interim dean a wonderful experience after just a few short months.
Best wishes for a restful summer,
Maureen Kenny, Ph.D.
Interim Dean and Professor
