Patrick Proctor, assistant professor in the Teacher Education, Special Education, and Curriculum and Instruction Department, has received a three-year grant from the Institute of Education Sciences to conduct a longitudinal study of vocabulary development and its relationship with instruction. among native English and native Spanish speaking students in grades 2-5 in Waltham, Mass. and Prince George's County, Md. It is a collaborative grant with Rebecca Silverman and Jeff Harring from the University of Maryland at College Park. Total grant award is for $1.4 million, with $560,000 over the three years going to Boston College.
