National Lawyers Guild

student organizations

The National Lawyer's Guild (NLG) is dedicated to the need for basic change in the structure of our political and economic system. The Boston College Law School Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild seeks to unify like-minded BCLS students, faculty, and staff who recognize the importance of protecting civil rights and liberties; eliminating the oppression of indigent individuals and people of color; eliminating racism; and extending the rights of workers, farmers, women, LGBTQ, and people with disabilities. To the end that human rights shall be regarded as more sacred than property interests, we seek to educate ourselves and the community about economic and social justice and to provide law students with pro bono opportunities in support of these goals. Our aim is to bring together all those who recognize the importance of safeguarding and extending human rights and those who look upon the law as an instrument for the protection of the people, rather than for their repression.
