Newton, MA--The Women's Law Center will host their annual Woman of the Year reception on April 24. The event is designed for faculty, alumni, and students to come together and celebrate the challenges and triumphs unique to women in the legal profession. The reception will begin at 5:30 pm in Barat House.
This year, the honoree and keynote speaker is Anne Goldbach '77, Director of Forensic Services for CPCS. Goldbach has worked for CPCS since graduating from BC Law in 1977. Before becoming the Director of Forensic Services in 1997, she was Attorney in Charge of the Boston office for ten years. Goldbach acts as a resource on forensics issues and experts for public defenders and bar advocates throughout the state. In that capacity, she works to point out weaknesses in forensic science to ensure that nobody is convicted based on unreliable evidence. She is a past president of the MA Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, has served on the Board of Directors of the MA Council for Public Justice, and was presented with the Duggan Award at the CPCS annual conference last year.
The Women's Law Center (WLC) provides the law school community with programs and events concerning women in law and society. In addition, the WLC serves as a forum for feminist political activism and as a resource for women entering the legal profession.
All BC Law alumni, faculty, and students are welcome to attend. For more information, please contact Yasin Akbari at firstname.lastname@example.org.
