Three of Five Candidates in US Senate Special Election Primaries BC Law Grads

Newton, MA--Ed Markey (D) and Gabriel Gomez (R) emerged victorious in the Massachusetts primaries to decide which party candidates will compete in the special election to fill John Kerry's Senate seat. The primaries took place on April 30--and three of the five candidates who participated are graduates of BC Law.

In the Democratic primary, Stephen Lynch '91 competed against Edward Markey '72. On the Republican side, Dan Winslow '83 went up against Mike Sullivan and Gabriel Gomez.

John Kerry '76 is also a BC Law graduate. His Senate seat was left vacant when he accepted the nomination as Secretary of State.

The special election will take place on June 25.
