How can I find books and other physical items?
Search in the library catalog or WorldCat. All Boston College Libraries, including the law library share a catalog. WorldCat allows you to search the catalogs of over 10,000 libraries throughout the world.
The law library's circulation policy determines which items may be checked out and for how long.
What if the item I am looking for is at another BC Library?
Sign into your catalog account to request the item. Select “Find it in Library” and click “Request.” Complete the form, selecting Law as the pickup location. You will receive an email when the book is available for you to pick up at the Information Desk.
What if a BC library owns the item I want, but it isn't currently available?
If you would like to recall the item, first sign into your catalog account. Select “Find it in Library” and click “Request." Complete the form, selecting Law as the pickup location. If the item is checked out to another patron, they will have two weeks to return the item to the library.
If you would rather request the item through interlibrary loan, click “Interlibrary Loan.” You will be prompted to sign into your Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery account. Complete the form.
You will receive an email when the item is available for you to pick up at the Information Desk.
What if I can't find the item in the catalog?
Try searching for the item in WorldCat. Once you find the item, click on the title to see request options.
What if I can’t find the item in the catalog or in WorldCat?
Sign into your Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery account. Select “Loan Request” from the Main Menu and complete the form.
