SmartCILP Instructions for Faculty
SmartCILP is the customized electronic version of the Current Index to Legal Periodicals. To subscribe to SmartCILP follow the instructions below:
1. In a web browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape open http://depts.washington.edu/scilp/scilp3.cgi.
2. Fill out all the information requested, especially your e-mail address.

Please contact Karen Beck at 617-552-8607 for BC Law's authorization code.
3. Scroll through the list of topics and subjects and click the boxes next to the ones you wish to select. A list of the subjects is available here, so you can peruse them before you log on.
4. If you wish to receive tables of contents of particular journal titles, continue scrolling or paging down the list and click the boxes next to the titles you wish to select. If you do not wish to receive these, click the Next button now.
5. After the list of journal titles is another Next button. Click it to submit your profile (i.e. to sign up) if you have chosen to receive contents of particular journal titles.
6. Each Wednesday you will receive an e-mail message containing the subjects and tables of contents you selected. Please make sure to delete or copy to your hard drive all the SmartCILP messages you receive. Messages not deleted or moved to your hard drive take up space on the law school server, which strains the capacity of the server and slows response time.
7. If you wish to change your profile at any time, you must resubscribe and create your entire profile again.
8. Please note that our agreement with the University of Washington, the producer of CILP and SmartCILP, stipulates that you do not forward your electronic copies of CILP.
