Two BC Law Alumni Honored
honorable joseph lian, jr. '60 and john j. mitchell '59 receive awards
The St. Thomas More Society of Worcester honored the Honorable Joseph Lian, Jr., BC LAW '60, by presenting him with the Distinguished Jurist Award in November. Judge Lian, presiding justice of Massachusetts Trial, Probate and Family courts, was an attorney at the Worcester law firm of Zarrow, George, Lian and Abraham from 1960 to 1990, prior to being elevated to the Bench. He was a member of the Armed Forces serving in the United States Navy from 1955-1957. He was a U. S. Naval Reservist serving from 1957-1968, retiring with the rank of Lt. Commander.
The St. Thomas More Society also honored John J. Mitchell, BC Law '59, with the Distinguished Attorney Award. He maintains a private practice of law in Clinton, MA. From 1959 to 1995, he was associated with the office of McGuire and McGuire in Worcester. Mitchell served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956, including service in Korea.
