Frank Bellotti: The Interviews
The Law School recently announced that it will establish the Francis X. Bellotti Loan Repayment and Forgiveness Program in honor of Arbella Insurance Group founder, current Arbella board Vice Chairman and former Massachusetts Attorney General Frank Bellotti, who graduated from BC Law in 1952. The program is made possible through $3 million in gifts to BC Law -- $2 million from the Arbella Insurance Group Charitable Foundation and $1 million from individuals associated with Arbella and Bellotti.
The Arbella Insurance Group Charitable Foundation gift, believed to be one of the largest bestowed to a law school for this purpose, is the second largest gift in BC Law's history.
In honor of this historic occasion, eBrief editors sat down with Frank Bellotti to talk about his storied career--and also spoke with Arbella Insurance Group Charitable Foundation Chairman and President John F. Donohue, who cites Bellotti as his professional mentor and was instrumental in organizing the gift.

About BC Law LRAP
Boston College Law School’s loan repayment awards reached an all-time high this year, with $459,000 awarded in loan repayment assistance to 95 new and recent alumni who are currently practicing in the public sector.
The Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP) has seen significant increases of well over 400% during the past decade, and the Arbella gift will significantly enhance BC Law’s LRAP funding in the coming years.
True to its Jesuit ideal of service to others, the Law School has never turned away a qualified recipient for LRAP. The Program was started by William F. Willier, a former BC Law professor who was instrumental in establishing an endowed fund for this purpose. Today, annual giving from alumni and friends to the Law School Fund, along with income from other endowed funds, provide funding for LRAP.
Graduates often point to LRAP as the reason they are able to go into public interest work. LRAP recipients work as assistant district attorneys, legal service attorneys, public defenders, government mediators, immigration lawyers, health law advocates, victims’ rights advocates and juvenile law advocates.
