Law Day 2006 was an unqualified success, drawing a crowd of hundreds to downtown Boston's Seaport Hotel at the World Trade Center. This year's Law Day was held in conjunction with the Law School's 75th Celebration, and the Law Day Committee honored a number of members of the alumni who embodied this year's theme, Leadership in the Profession (see below for the list of awardees).

In addition to the 75th Alumni Awards, two special awards were given out at this year's Law Day:

St. Thomas More Award:
This award recognizes a member of the legal community who represents, in his or her professional and private life, the ideals of St. Thomas More. This year’s St. Thomas More Award was given to Michael S. Greco, Esq., ‘72. Greco is the current President of the American Bar Association, a partner in the Boston office of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart, LLP, and a trial lawyer with more than 30 years of litigation experience in business, employment and real estate law.

Daniel G. Holland Lifetime Achievement Award:
This award is given to individuals whose lives exemplify the ideals of professionalism and service. This year’s Daniel G. Holland Award was given posthumously to Richard “Packy” Packenham, Esq., ‘78. Packy passed away unexpectedly on October 3, 2005, at the age of fifty-two. Packy practiced law with a combination of tremendous zeal and a sense of humor. He could diffuse the most heated and contentious situations with his quick wit. At the same time he was an outstanding trial lawyer and appellate advocate at his law firm of Packenham, Schmidt & Federico, PC.
