John E. Henry
Special Counsel, State Street Corporation
John
has been Special Counsel to State Street Corporation since July 2007,
and is primarily responsible for assisting the General Counsel with
transition issues related to State Street’s acquisition in July 2007 of
Investors Financial Services Corp.
From 1996 to July 2007, John
was Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Investors
Financial Services Corp. and its primary operating subsidiary,
Investors Bank & Trust Company. John was responsible for all
legal, regulatory and compliance matters at Investors and was a member
of the company’s Executive and Management Committees.
Prior to
joining Investors Financial, John was an associate at the Boston law
firm of Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault, LLP. During his tenure at
Testa, Hurwitz, John represented underwriters, venture capital funds
and growth-oriented technology and financial services companies in
corporate, securities and intellectual property matters.
Before
attending law school, John was a software systems analyst at GTE and
acted as Assistant General Manager of the South Shore Music Circus and
the Cape Cod Melody Tent. During the 1980’s and 1990’s, John performed
as a free-lance classical and jazz musician, coached instrumental
groups at Boston College and taught private lessons. John holds
Bachelor of Music Degrees in Trumpet and Music Management from the
Hartt School of Music and a Juris Doctor from Boston College. John
remains active in the arts and is currently Chairman of the Arts &
Business Council of Greater Boston.
Harold Hestnes
Partner (retired), Wilmer Hale
For
over forty years, Harold Hestnes practiced general litigation with an
emphasis on public law issues, particularly antitrust and regulatory
matters affecting the oil, gas and electric power industries. He
retired from active practice in 2007.
Mr. Hestnes is a prior
chairman of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, director and
secretary of the Massachusetts Business Roundtable, and is past
chairman and a member of the Boston Coordinating Committee. He has
served as chairman of the Board of Selectmen for the Town of Weston,
and as director and chairman of the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation.
He is also a member of the Board of Directors of CareGroup, MassINC and
the Vermont Historical Society.
From 1961-62, Mr. Hestnes served as counsel to Governor John A. Volpe.
