BC Law’s demanding first-year program emphasizes concise analysis, creativity, oral and written communication skills, and an appreciation for professional responsibility and ethics. We teach you how to research, how to reason and how to write.
Legal Reasoning, Research & Writing (LRR&W) is a full-year course that is an important part of our first-year curriculum at BC Law. In LRR&W you will learn a sophisticated methodology for legal problem-solving by developing and integrating legal analysis, research and communication skills. LRR&W is taught in sections of approximately forty-five students by six highly experienced full-time professors who have created a distinctive, nationally recognized program. Over the course of the year, you will receive extensive written and oral feedback on several major writing assignments as well as on interim drafts and have the opportunity to meet individually with your LRR&W professor a number of times. Legal employers report that LRR&W contributes to the success of BC Law graduates in the workplace by preparing them exceptionally well to research, analyze and write about legal problems.
As you move through your second and third years, we give you the depth and the breadth of knowledge you need.
