Video: Ault on Comparative Income Tax

Newton, MA--BC Law Professor Hugh Ault’s newest release, "Comparative Income Taxation: A Structural Analysis" (Wolters Kluwer), provides an overview of income tax systems in nine industrialized countries. Each nation’s tax system is reviewed with respect to individual income tax, corporate income tax and the taxation of international transactions.

In Memoriam: Richard Huber, 1919-2011

Newton, MA—The Boston College Law School community is saddened by the loss of former Dean and longtime faculty member Richard Huber, who passed away this weekend. He was 92 years old.

2011 Liberty Mutual Prize Awarded

Newton, MA—Boston College Law School is pleased to announce that the 2011 Liberty Mutual Prize was awarded to Daniel Schwarcz, Associate Professor of Law at the University of Minnesota Law School. Schwarcz presented his winning paper, Reevaluating Standardized Insurance Policies, at a faculty lunch on November 11th.

Professor Robert C. Berry, 1936-2011

Newton, MA--Professor Robert C. Berry, a member of the BC Law faculty from 1971-2006, passed away on Monday, November 21. He was 75.

Papandrea Publication on Landmark Case Featured in BC Magazine

Newton, MA--Professor Papandrea's recent publication, a chapter in "First Amendment Stories" on the landmark First Amendment case New York Times Co. v. Sullivan is featured in the Boston College Magazine.

Editors of the ABA Journal selected E-Lessons Learned as one of the top 100 blogs by lawyers, for lawyers. E-Lessons Learned was founded by Fernando M. Pinguelo '97, a member of the law firm Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A. and an adjunct professor at Seton Hall University School of Law. E-Lessons Learned is an educational blog about electronic discovery and how technology affects corporate governance and lawsuits and it features content authored by young lawyers and law students from across the country. Fernando has designed a state-of-the-art electronic discovery law course and teaches one of only a handful of such courses in the country at Seton Hall University School of Law. Recently, the Fulbright Program, the U.S. government's flagship international exchange program, designated Fernando a Fulbright Specialist for his work in eDiscovery, and he will engage in a project at a university in one of over 100 participating countries. Fernando was also invited to be a member of eDiscovery Group of The Sedona Conference Working Group Series, a prestigious series of think-tanks consisting of leading experts brought together by a desire to address various "tipping point" issues in each area under consideration.  

Susan M. Finegan '91 is the recipient of a 2009 Women of Justice award presented by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, in partnership with the Massachusetts Association of Women Lawyers and the Women's Bar Association, for her accomplishments in the areas of social justice and advocacy. She is a partner at Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky & Popeo PC in Boston.
 
Lauren Stiller Rikleen '79 is the recipient of a 2009 Women of Justice award presented by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, in partnership with the Massachusetts Association of Women Lawyers and the Women's Bar Association, for her accomplishments in the areas of social justice and advocacy. She is a partner in the Framingham, MA, office of Bowditch & Dewey LLP. 

Josephine McNeil '87 is the recipient of a 2009 Women of Justice award presented by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, in partnership with the Massachusetts Association of Women Lawyers and the Women's Bar Association, for her accomplishments in the areas of social justice and advocacy. She is the executive director of CAN-DO, Citizens for Affordable Housing in Newton Development Organization in Newton, MA.
