PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP

This year will feature an add-on pre-conference workshop for an additional $100.00 (lunch is included). This year's preconference is on participant direction in managed care.

Preconference on Participant Direction in Managed Care
More and more states are adopting managed care delivery systems to provide long-term services and supports. Most have self-direction programs that will transfer from fee-for-service to managed care. This intensive features new models of participant direction in managed care and provides useful information about operating self direction in managed care environments.

The preconference session will include findings from NRCPDS research and will be led by NRCPDS experts who work with states, managed care entities, and providers who implement participant direction in this new environment. Presenters will:

  • Offer a deeper look at the different models in use, including the most recently approved programs;
  • Highlight Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements for managed care entities with an emphasis on quality assurance and improvement strategies and performance metrics;
  • Identify promising practices and describe common challenges;
  • Address managed care operations and business drivers from a provider's perspective; and
  • Emphasize opportunities for developing partnerships with managed care entities using case studies from around the country to show the real-world compatibility of self-direction and managed care.

NRCPDS Director of Program of Design and Implementation, Suzanne Crisp, and Senior Policy Analyst, Kate Murray, will lead this preconference intensive.
