Distinguished Recent Alumni Award
Nick Teich, MSW ‘09, LCSW

Nick is is the Founder and CEO of Camp Aranu’tiq and Harbor Camps', the world’s first camp exclusively for transgender and gender-variant youth, with locations in New Hampshire and California. Besides working year-round to run Harbor Camps, Nick is also a PhD candidate in social policy at Brandeis's Heller School. In 2012 he authored Transgender 101: A Simple Guide to a Complex Issue (Columbia University Press). He lives in Newton with his wife, Erika Sabbath, a faculty member at BCSSW and their daughter Rebecca.

Nick was an invited participant, LGBT policy roundtable at the White House and dinner for LGBT leaders at the home of Vice President Biden (September 2012) and an invited participant, meeting at the White House about working toward dignity and equality for all people (November 2012).

Distinguished Recent Alumni Award
Debra Sosin, MSW '77

Ms. Sosin brings to her practice over 44 years of clinical and educational experience working with children, families, educators and systems. Currently Ms. Sosin is the Project Director for Family Connections, an early childhood mental health consultation and professional staff development program of the Brazelton Touchpoints Center (BTC), Boston Children’s Hospital. She is also National Trainer with BTC and has provided Touchpoints and Family Connections trainings throughout the country.  This work has included Head Start and Early Head Start programs in rural and urban areas and Tribal nations.    

She began her career as a special educator for children with serious mental health concerns.  As a clinical social worker, administrator, and leader she has integrated the mental health, educational and concrete needs of children and their families.  She has worked in public and private schools, mental health clinics, early education settings, hospitals, and human service agencies.
