AmeriCorps, the domestic Peace Corps engages more than 40,000 Americans in intensive, results-driven service each year. Most AmeriCorps members are selected by and serve with projects like Habitat for Humanity, the American Red Cross, and Boys and Girls Clubs, and many more local and national organizations. Others serve in AmeriCorps*VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) and AmeriCorps*NCCC (the National Civilian Community Corps). After their term of service, AmeriCorps members receive education awards to help finance college or pay back student loans.

The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) is dedicated to improving the health of the Nation's underserved. For more than 30 years, our programs and initiatives have united undeserved communities with thousands of dedicated clinicians. Our efforts have fostered commitments by communities to improve their health care outcomes, which has made a difference in the lives of millions of people. The NHSC provides the Loan Repayment Program to fully trained providers with qualified educational loans if they chose to serve at an eligible site (see website). The applicant must agree to provide primary care services in a priority health professional shortage area for a minimum of two years. Clinical Social Workers are a group of possible candidates for the LRP.

Award: Qualified educational loans are repaid at a maximum of $25,000 per year for the required initial two-year contract period.
