The Boston College Graduate School of Social Work has long recognized the need for social service practitioners from groups which have comprised minorities in U.S. society to be prepared to assume leadership positions and provide direct services in any community. In addition, the School recognizes that diversity brings an important educational benefit to its students in the classroom.
With this in mind, the Admissions Office actively recruits African-American, Latino/a, Asian and Native Americans and members of other under-represented groups interested in the concentrations which the School offers. In encouraging enrollment of students of color, the School has been able to provide a number of scholarships to those in need of assistance.
A committee of alumni, faculty and students is actively involved in recruiting on undergraduate campuses and in community agencies, as well as in researching new sources of financial aid.
