It is my pleasure to welcome you to the community of the Boston College School of Social Work (BCSSW). BCSSW is in the vanguard of institutions thinking differently about how to engage and collaborate with the most vulnerable in solution-focused social work research and practice.
As you navigate our site, we hope it will help you to know us better, and understand our call to be leaders in our fields. I encourage you to get to know our diverse and innovative faculty – it is a unique group possessing research expertise across various disciplines. At BCSSW we are strengthening social work research and practice through transdisciplinary collaborations with neuroscience, nursing, public health, education, environmental science, law, and entrepreneurship, to name a few.
At BCSSW, we also recognize the imperative to learn from those whom we serve, and so we are hard at work to forge community collaborations and deploy innovative interventions to help the most vulnerable among us. Our initiatives around social innovation, Latino leadership, immigrant integration, aging & work, environment & poverty, and race & diversity reflect our commitment to a place-based focus in everything we do.
As you become acquainted with us on our website and blog, or via social media, I think you’ll learn that BCSSW is a place where strong programs rooted in both a clinical and macro perspective come together to develop interventions for the greater good.
