A new study by Jacquelyn James, Elyssa Besen, Christina Matz-Costa, and Marcie Pitt-Catsouphes of GSSW's Sloan Center on Aging & Work has been highlighted nationally in Time.com, SmartMoney.com, and USA Today. The study looks at the well-being of older adults as tied to their active engagement in paid work, caregiving, education, and volunteering.

Professor Kerry Mitchell, Ph.D.,LICSW will be presenting a lecture at Stonehill College: "Confessions of a Cognitive Therapist: 20 Years in Practice"
This presentation will focus on both the literature and the research which support the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and will provide a critical analysis of the use of CBT in practice settings by an experienced practitioner.
Ways in which CBT is used with the range of populations, from children to elders, will be addressed, as will the latest data on the CBT formulation of the physiological underpinnings of depression. Training social workers in the use of CBT will be reviewed from the perspective of an experienced therapist and faculty member. The relevance of the CBT approach will be discussed in light of the current demands of health care providers and the agency environment.
Who Should Attend: Social Workers, Mental Health professionals, Individuals interested in pursuing a master's degree in social work and Interested members of the community
