Alzheimers Walk Volunteers

Led by Associate Professor Katie McInnis-Dittrich, chair of the Older Adults & Families Concentration, students, faculty and alums from the Boston College Graduate School of Social Work participated in this year’s Alzheimer Memory Walk on September 27th along the Charles in Cambridge.   more »

The Graduate School of Social Work and the Center for Human Rights and International Justice are honored to welcome to Boston College “Man on Fire” an exhibit of images and words honoring the legacy of Father Pedro Arrupe, the founder of Jesuit Refugee Service.

Orientation 2009

The GSSW academic year 2009-2010 is off to a great start with orientation sessions held for incoming students in the full-time and three year programs. Students participated in lively roundtable discussions with faculty, staff and current students.   more »

The 133rd Commencement of Boston College was held on Monday, May 18, 2009.

GSSW graduates and their guests attended the Diploma Ceremony held on Burns Lawn at noon. Vice Provost for Faculties, Patricia DeLeeuw gave the Invocation followed by Greetings given by student representative André Lira Gordenstein, Anita Riley, President of the GSSW Alumni Board and Tiziana Dearing, President, Catholic Charities of Boston. Student awards and diplomas were presented and the ceremony concluded with a Benediction by student Yanli Liu.

Final year GSSW students from the advanced policy courses participated in the 2nd Annual GSSW Policy Poster Session held in Gasson Hall on April 30th.  Students from the Children, Youth, and Families, Health and Mental Health, and Older Adults and Families concentrations showcased policy analyses on posters at the event.

Recruitment Fair photo

Recruiters from across New England were on campus to talk to students about the employment opportunities at their agencies. BC GSSW students and alumni were invited to come and speak one-on-one with area agency representatives and pick up materials and handouts describing their programs.

The Boston College Graduate School of Social Work, The Center for Human Rights and International Justice, and The Center for the Arts and Social Responsibility co-sponsored Waging Peace's traveling exhibition of drawings created by refugee children from Darfur. The exhibit was on display in Bapst Library from March 9th through March 27th, 2009.
