Professor M. Hossein Safizadeh Named Interim Dean of CSOM

Academic Vice President John J. Neuhauser has named esteemed Carroll School of Management Professor M. Hossein Safizadeh as interim dean of CSOM for the upcoming academic year.

Safizadeh, a professor in the operations and strategic management department of the CSOM, will direct the Carroll School during its search to replace former dean Helen Peters who resigned in May to focus on teaching and research.

In announcing the appointment, Neuhauser praised Safizadeh for accepting the position and for his dedication to the Carroll School and its mission. "Safi is well known to all in the Carroll School for his tireless work in his department as well as his service to both the school and the University," said Neuhauser. "Although he had a very busy agenda for the coming year he graciously agreed to set his work aside simply because he was needed in another role. I am grateful to him and look forward to working with him as we continue to move the Carroll School forward."

In accepting, the position Safizadeh pledged to do his best to live up to the expectations of his supportive colleagues. "I believe that through years of careful and successful hiring we have assembled an outstanding cadre of scholars who are also dedicated and effective teachers," said Safizadeh. "We also could not have asked for a better and friendlier administrative and support staff in the Carroll School. Equally important, we have created and extremely collegial, respectful and peaceful working environment. I hope that we can further nurture these invaluable qualities for our community in the next academic year. I have a great deal of respect for every member of the faculty, administration and the staff. I look forward to the opportunity of working with everyone."
