Meet The Students

There are many measures of success. But people are the heart and soul of any school, and we believe that our success can best be measured by their success. Our students are some of the most talented in the world. We're proud of them, and we believe their stories are compelling. Take a moment to browse through the profiles of our students and we think you'll agree: there is no better way to introduce you to the MSF Program.

George Donnelly

George Donnelly, Editor of the Boston Business Journal

"I arrived at the Part-Time MSF Program with an unconventional background. I've built a 17-year career as a reporter and editor for newspapers and magazine, most recently CFO magazine and the Boston Business Journal (where I am now editor). However, my exposure to finance had been haphazard and largely self-taught. I had a craving to formalize my education in finance, an area that fascinates me and is directly relevant to my day-to-day work. I applied for a journalist's scholarship, and was fortunate to receive one.

My experience in the classroom has been very gratifying, challenging, and rewarding. It has deepened my understanding and sharpened my analytical skills as a business journalist.

Already the course work has given me an edge inside the newsroom, where I direct news coverage, and out in the business world, where I rub shoulders with CEOs and CFOs.

The framework of finance that is taught in the MSF program is immediately applicable to the real world. The professors have offered an excellent blend of theory and practice-they are very connected to the events of the day. I also have enjoyed mixing with a diverse and talented array of students, who, like me, are in the business world by day an in the classroom by night."

Sonny C. Lin

Sonny C. Lin, MBA/MSF Alumni

"After years of experience in international trading, I decided to take on the most significant challenge in my life, to pursue a brand new career in the area where my passion has always been, finance. Being an individual who strives for continuous challenge and greater responsibility, the fast paced life of an investment banker has always interested me.

BC's MSF Program is not only a program with a well-designed curriculum of in-depth exposure to various subjects in finance but also a program taught by world renowned finance faculties in an institute with global recognition. The Program's well-diversified student body enables me to exchange ideas with peers from different laces and in doing so, grasp a better understanding of unique financial issues faced by people and governments of different nations.

During my time at BC, I felt a strong bond between Boston College and its alumni; BC is more like a family to its graduates than merely a school. I have no doubt that this unique relationship will be a tremendous asset for future graduates not only for career advancement but also for personal development.

BC's MSF Program lived up to my expectation in every aspect.  I strongly encourage people with the desire to pursue a career in finance to explore the endless opportunities a BC MSF degree has to offer."
