The Women's Union

This organization, with diverse programs, advocates for women and their families. Programs include job training workshops and economic education. Varied individual opportunities available; generally of a semester-long or yearlong duration.

Boston Catholic Schools CONNECT

This organization seeks to increase student achievement by providing student and family support services and expanding cultural enrichment opportunities. It partners with BC, Jackson Mann Community Center, and St. Anthony and St. Columbkille elementary schools in Brighton. Volunteer opportunities include after-school programs, summer programs, and one-time engagements in social activities or school presentations.

People Making A Difference

O.N.E. Organization for a New Equality

This organization seeks to expand economic opportunities for people traditionally excluded from the financial mainstream. Volunteers facilitate workshops on a variety of financial topics.

This grassroots organization addresses ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) through support groups, patient care, fundraising, and awareness educational programs.

Adoption & Foster Care Mentoring

This organization builds relationships between adult volunteers and children between the ages of 7 and 14 who have adoption, foster care, or other out-of-home care experiences. Their goal is to connect youth with mentors who can offer enough emotional and social support to enable the youth to confidently define and achieve success on their own terms.

This organization creates opportunities for disabled people to access computers for economic and personal improvement. This program is already affiliated with the Carroll School of Management.

National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship

Through entrepreneurship education, NFTE helps young people from low-income communities build skills and unlock their entrepreneurial creativity. NFTE is currently looking for volunteers to serve a variety of roles. Guest speakers are needed to speak about entrepreneurship and/or business-related topics. Business Plan Coaches are needed to work one-on-one with students while they are writing their business plans. Alumni Business Mentors are needed to work with alumni of NFTE who are interested in starting or growing their business>

Boston EITC Coalition

The Boston Earned Income Credit Tax Coalition is comprised of 22 community organizations that provide free tax preparation to low and moderate income Boston residents.

They have multiple volunteer positions available during tax season, including tax preparer, credit advisor, cash advisor and intake screener. Volunteers are needed during the day, after 5PM and on Saturdays. All volunteers receive training and do not need tax experience.

Greater Boston Food Bank

The Greater Boston Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization in New Englad, and one of the largest food banks in the country. They distribute more than 25 million pounds of food annually to a network of more than 600 member hunger-relief agencies.
