Gerald Yung | Principal, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School
Gerald Yung is the principal of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. School; a position he has held for five years. The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. School is an extended day pre-kindergarten to fifth grade public school in the Cambridge Public School District. Under his leadership, the King School has made impressive gains in student proficiency and has earned state recognition as a Level 1 school. Three years ago, the King School started the first Chinese Dual Language Immersion Program in the greater Boston area. Prior to the King School, Gerald Yung was the principal of the Seven Hills Charter Public School in Worcester, MA. He has also served as Principal Intern at the Edwards Middle School in Charlestown, MA, and as a teacher at the Pierce Middle School in Milton, MA. He holds a Master’s Degree in Education, School Leadership, from Harvard University, a Master’s Degree in Middle School Education from Lesley University, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
