Meghan Welch | Aspiring Principal Fellow, Boston Public Schools
Meghan Welch has served urban students and schools for the past 10 years. She began her education career as a teacher at Hyde Leadership in Washington, D.C. After studying Public Policy at Tufts University, Meghan served as a troubleshooter for Michelle Rhee as the district underwent large-scale improvements and then as a founding faculty member of KIPP DC’s first high school. As Dean of Students at Excel Academy in East Boston, she worked with students, staff and families to keep the focus on student achievement. Most recently Meghan has worked as the Director of Operations at Orchard Gardens K-8 Pilot School, where she has managed day-to-day operations, finances, facilities and the schools various partnerships and grants. She has worked closely with the principal to ensure systems and structures allow for high-quality instruction and the sustainability of Orchard Gardens’ turnaround from a Level 4 school to a Level 1 school. Meghan believes leading a BPS school is where her skills in instruction, operations and adult management can have their greatest impact.
