Ben Rockoff | Resident Principal, JP Manning School
Benjamin Rockoff has served the students of Boston for the past ten years. As a middle school math teacher for eight of those years, he helped guide 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students to significant academic gains. In 2010 he joined the Turnaround Team at the Orchard Gardens K-8 Pilot School. There he was a T3 Teacher Leader, Math Department Head, Instructional Leadership Team member and, most importantly, a 7th-grade math teacher. After serving in these capacities, the school Principal asked him to assume the position of Middle School Academy Director, where he helped design and implement systems and structures to support teachers and students. In this role, he also collaborated closely with several external partners, including COMPASS, the Achievement Network, Youth Enrichment Services, EdVestors, City Year, Citizen Schools, Play Ball, and SCORES, to enhance the education of every student.
Raised in Massachusetts, Benjamin graduated from Lehigh University with a Bachelor of Science in Business and Economics. He subsequently received a Master of Liberal Arts, in Mathematics for Teaching from Harvard University Extension School. He is married to Mina Kim who also works with the Boston Public Schools.
