Stephanie Schwartz
MSA '16

Stephanie will begin her career with PwC
Stephanie Schwartz, MSA '16, leveraged her BC experience to secure a position with PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York. She now works as an audit associate in the Entertainment, Media, and Communication market.

After graduating from Boston College with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Stephanie Schwartz, MSA ’16, chose to continue her education through Boston College’s Master of Science in Accounting program. “I had a deep interest in building upon and expanding the foundation in accounting that I had obtained as an undergraduate.”

Stephanie grew up in Trumbull, CT, and Boston College was her dream school from an early age. She was happy to extend her studies at BC for one additional year to earn her MSA. “I established many relationships with professors and faculty members that I wanted to continue to develop.”

The BC MSA program allowed Stephanie to fulfill the CPA requirements and take courses in new subjects. “The curriculum in the BC MSA program is extremely flexible. I found this beneficial because it allowed me to explore my interests both in accounting and other fields of business. Additionally, the faculty at Boston College is truly special. While looking to challenge and push students to new levels, professors provide a comfortable and transformative classroom environment.”

“The most valuable aspect of the MSA program is the relationships that I have established at BC. Many of the accounting classes are group project based which resulted in countless hours spent with my classmates. The relationships that have formed out of the many hours of working together, whether on a problem set or case study, are friendships that I am certain I will carry with me through life.”

In addition to gaining a network of future colleagues, Stephanie found the Boston College alumni network and the strong relationships BC has with the Big 4 accounting firms to be vital to her career search. “As I was going through the recruitment process to begin my career in public accounting, utilizing this alumni network and presence of the Big 4 on campus was a testament to how valuable my education at Boston College truly is.”

As an undergraduate, Stephanie completed an internship with PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York. Now a graduate of the BC MSA program, she will return to PwC this fall as an audit associate in the Entertainment, Media and Communication market. In the future, she hopes to return to higher education to teach business ethics. “I believe obtaining a foundation in public accounting will provide me with the experience and foundation needed to apply real world experience to the classroom environment.”
