Matt Hill, MSA '16
It was a job opportunity that brought Matt Hill, MSA ‘16, to the city of Boston. And it was his desire to attend a highly ranked program, that would prepare him for a successful career, that led Matt to pursue a Master of Science in Accounting degree at Boston College.
Matt was drawn to the BC MSA program for the flexibility it offered him. “BC’s curriculum offered the perfect mix of accounting and upper-level business courses to prepare me for a career in the corporate realm.” The experience has been as rewarding as he hoped. “The best part about being a graduate student at BC is the opportunities that are afforded to Carroll School students, and the unique courses that are only available at BC. Going to school in a large city and financial hub allows for highly successful professionals to be incorporated into your education.”
Prior to joining the Boston College community, Matt earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting while playing varsity soccer at Xavier University. In addition to his experience as a student athlete, Matt also served as President of the international business fraternity, Beta Alpha Psi.
Matt initially accepted a full-time offer with Ernst & Young’s commercial assurance line, after completing a summer internship prior to his start in the BC MSA program. Over the course of the fall semester, while helping to recruit for Ernst & Young on campus, Matt became aware of a different opportunity within the company. “I asked the lead recruiter if it was possible to transfer my offer. Within a week I had three interviews and a new position, as a member of the Financial Services Office Business Advisory Program.”
In the future, Matt would like to complete an MBA and continue a career in business advisory with Ernst & Young, and move into management consulting. “Boston College has put me in an incredible position to achieve my career goals.”
