Zacharia Hussain, MBA ’15, has never met a stranger. The people and culture of the BC MBA program were deciding factors for Zach in his graduate education search, “It quickly became apparent that BC was a special place with phenomenal people when I came to visit. Because of the small class size, people knew and cared about each other on a much closer level than I had expected to find in a graduate program. Because of this, it made deciding between graduate programs very easy.”
Zach grew up in Denver, CO, and graduated from Colby College in Maine with a degree in Mathematics. He began his career with the Colorado State Treasury where he worked on issuing municipal bonds to build and repair public school across Colorado. With every intention of pursuing medical school, Zach was preparing to take the MCAT when he decided that he wanted to make an impact outside of medicine. With the new goal of a career in finance, Zach returned to the East Coast to join State Street working in financial reporting and environmental sustainability.
Realizing an advanced degree in business management was necessary to further his career, Zach chose to build specific skills in business analytics and marketing information analysis. After interning with Pfizer in New York City, he was offered a position in Pfizer’s Finance Leadership Program upon graduation. “From helping design my resume to practice interviewing to connecting me to BC alumni, the Career Strategies Office played an integral role in helping me land an internship at Pfizer.” Zach began his full-time employment as a Finance Rotational with Pfizer shortly after earning his MBA.
Zach believes the most valuable aspect of the BC MBA program has been working on a variety of teams, “This not only provided the opportunity for me to learn from my classmates with their unique perspectives, but also taught me important lessons on how to achieve more by becoming a high performing team.”
