Mei Xue, PhD

Professor Mei Xue holds a PhD in Management Science and Applied Economics and an AM in Operations and Information Management from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a MSE in Systems Engineering from the School of Engineering and Applied Science, the University of Pennsylvania. She also holds a BE in Industrial Engineering and a BA in English from Tianjin University, China. Prior to coming to the U.S., she also studied in the master’s program of International Finance at Nankai University, China.
Professor Xue's current research interests include service co-production and customer Efficiency Management (CEM), service delivery in multi-channel delivery systems, process design and contracting of knowledge-intensive services (e.g. consulting), and productivity and efficiency analysis of service industries including banking, consulting, retail and healthcare. Professor Xue currently serves as a principle investigator of a research project funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF): “Customer Efficiency and the Management of Multi-channel Service Delivery System”. Her past research projects include a project funded by Marketing Science Institute (MSI) and the Wharton E-Business Initiative that studies customer efficiency and e-business management. Professor Xue is an appointed Fellow of the Wharton Financial Institutions Center and a WeBi Fellow of the Wharton E-Business Initiative. Professor Xue's research has been published at Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management (M&SOM), Production and Operations Management (POM), and Journal of Service Research.
