Philip E. Strahan

Professor - Finance Department

Philip E. Strahan is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Carroll School of Management at Boston College and a Sloan Fellow at the Wharton Financial Institutions Center. Previously, Professor Strahan spent seven years in the Research and Market Analysis Group of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He received a PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago in 1993.

Professor Strahan's research interests include the effects of deregulation on the structure and efficiency of the banking industry, the impact of consolidation on bank lending, the political economy of banking deregulation, and risk management practices in banking. He has articles published or forthcoming in the American Economic Review, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, the Journal of Financial Intermediation, the Journal of Law and Economics, the Journal of Monetary Economics, the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, the Journal of Banking and Finance, the Journal of Risk and Insurance, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's Economic Policy Review and Current Issues in Economics and Finance. Professor Strahan is also an associate editor of the Journal of Financial Intermediation, the Journal of Financial Services Research and the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking.
