Professor Smith has the following in his educational background: Masters of Science in Finance, awarded January, 1988, Boston College, Chestnut Hill, MA; Bachelor in Business Administration, awarded June, 1956, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA, Major: Accounting. Smith is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Professor Smith's professional teaching background includes: 1997 – Present, Full-time Senior Lecturer in Finance, Carroll School of Management; 1987 - 1996 Carroll School of Management, Boston College, Chestnut Hill, MA; Adjunct Professor and Lecturer in Accounting and Finance, Carroll Graduate School of Management.
In addition, Professor Smith lectures for the Chartered Financial Analyst preparatory examination sessions in accounting and ethics; CPA required continuing education credits, lecturing in finance; National Investor Relations Institute, also lecturing in finance; The Irish Institute of Boston College, lecturing regularly in accounting and finance, both on campus and in Ireland.
