Larry Ritzman, PhD
Thomas J. Galligan Jr. Professor - Operations, Information & Strategic Management Department
He joined Boston College in 1991, having previously served at The Ohio State University for 23 years. He received his doctorate at Michigan State University, having had prior industrial experience at Babcock and Wilcox Company. While at OSU, he received several awards in both teaching and research.
Dr. Ritzman serves in various editorial capacities and has been particularly active in the Decision Sciences Institute where he has served as board member, executive committee member, doctoral consortium coordinator, and President. He was elected as Fellow of the Institute and has received three best paper awards and the Institute's Distinguished Service Award.
His recent research has expanded into the area of empirical based research on operations management, with a particular focus on processes in the service industry.
He has published numerous articles in most of the journals of his field, and has just finished the 6th edition of his textbook co-authored with Lee Krajewski. He has taught a variety of courses in operations management at the undergraduate, MBA, Executive MBA, and doctoral levels.
His initial research interests focused on applying modeling techniques and decision support systems to problems in operations management. Recent work has expanded into the area of empirically based research, with particular interest in such topics as operations strategy, forecasting, process choice, competitive priorities, service sector operations, and performance measures.
Currently the MBA core course and elective in Operations Management. Over the years, he has taught a variety of courses in operations management at the undergraduate, MBA, Executive MBA, and doctoral levels.
