Elizabeth Miller

Professor Miller received her PhD from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from Cornell University.  Her research focuses broadly on consumer decision-making, and more specifically, on how consumers interpret and respond to information, particularly in highly emotional or stressful situations.  Her research has been cited in the public press, presented at numerous conferences, including the Association for Consumer Research, Society for Consumer Psychology, Marketing Science, and American Marketing Association conferences, and has appeared in top marketing journals, such as the Journal of Consumer Research, the Journal of Marketing Research, and the Journal of Service Research.  Current projects focus on how to better encourage healthier behaviors by both children and adults, the effects of competing goals on choice, and individual factors affecting shopping behavior.

Professor Miller’s teaching interests include marketing principles, consumer behavior, marketing research, and services marketing.  She currently teachings marketing principles (undergraduate) and consumer behavior (undergraduate and MBA).

Professor Miller has also been involved in consulting projects for Comcast Cable and the Wall Street Journal, and her comments on marketing have appeared in numerous outlets, including the Boston Herald and the Boston Globe.
